Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is a superhero action film that follows Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) after her breakup with the Joker. Free from their toxic relationship, Harley sets out to reinvent herself and make a name on her own terms. Her newfound independence, however, puts a target on her back, drawing the ire of Gotham City crime lord Roman Sionis, aka Black Mask (Ewan McGregor).
To survive, Harley joins forces with an unexpected group of women: Dinah Lance (Jurnee Smollett), a nightclub singer with a powerful voice; Helena Bertinelli (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), a crossbow-wielding vigilante known as the Huntress; and Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez), a seasoned detective. Together, they band together to protect Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco), a young girl who has stolen a valuable diamond from Black Mask.
As Harley and her allies confront Black Mask and his goons, they form an unlikely sisterhood, combining their unique skills and strengths to take down their mutual enemy. With vibrant visuals, energetic action sequences, and a distinct sense of humor, Birds of Prey explores themes of empowerment and friendship as these women fight for their freedom and justice in a chaotic Gotham City.
