Ever After is a romantic historical drama that offers a reimagined, realistic take on the classic Cinderella fairy tale. The story follows Danielle de Barbarac (Drew Barrymore), a spirited and intelligent young woman living in 16th-century France. After her father’s sudden death, Danielle is forced into servitude by her cruel stepmother, Baroness Rodmilla de Ghent (Anjelica Huston), and her two stepsisters, Marguerite (Megan Dodds) and Jacqueline (Melanie Lynskey). 

Despite her circumstances, Danielle remains kind-hearted and hopeful. Her life takes an unexpected turn when she crosses paths with Prince Henry (Dougray Scott), the heir to the French throne. Disguising herself as a noblewoman, Danielle captures the prince’s attention with her wit and intelligence, sparking a romance that transcends their social differences.
